When I was young, I idolized Ramona Quimby. The main protagonist in Beverly Cleary’s series of books for children, Ramona was instantly relatable and awe-inspiring to me. She had her problems, many of them self-inflicted, but she was also courageous and spoke her mind. As I grew older, I struggled to find that same connection with young adult level books. The female protagonist was more worried about having a date Friday night or dealing with friend drama to be much of a role model. I have since found many books that I feel provide positive examples for teenage girls, and I can’t wait to share them!
